5 Steps to Achieving Your Goals

What are your goals?  Do you have a weight loss goal?  Do you have education goals?  Do you have financial goals?  No matter the goal, they all have one thing in common and that is planning.  Any plan is more likely to be achievable if you set SMART goals.

Specific

Be specific about your goals.  They should challenge you.  However, they should also be within your reach.  What exactly do you want to have happen?

Measurable

Choose goals that have results you can measure.  Give yourself a deadline, such as a week, a month, or 6 months from now.

Achievable

Is your goal something you can achieve?  You do not want to discourage yourself.  Keep in mind that you can always raise the bar after you have reached your first goals.

Rewarding

How will you reward yourself along the way?  Give yourself health rewards when you pass each milestone, as well as, when you meet our main goal

Track-able

How will you track your progress? Doing so helps you to see how far you have come.  It also shows any slip as just a brief setback that you can get past.

Set yourself up for success by using SMART to set realistic and achievable goals!

  1. This post is incredible. So many times I make these wild unattainable goals and then beat myself up when I don't get them accomplished. More people should read this, and save themselves some major heartbreak and self-loathing.
